2010 PRO HORNET RULES

AMENDMENTS TO THE RULES FOR 2009 HAVE BEEN UNDERLINED

AMENDMENTS TO THESE RULES MAY BE MADE IF NECESSARY.

TRACK OFFICIALS DECISIONS ARE FINAL 


Drivers:

1. Drivers 17 years & older, if dominating the class may have to start at the rear of the field for remainder of the season & will be required to move up to another Track Division at end of the season, Track decision.
Driver may not compete in any other class at the track.

BODY & FRAME

1. Any American or foreign made, 4-cylinder car with a maximum wheelbase of 108"FWD or 104"RWD and a complete OEM stock body and frame. No mid or rear engine cars allowed.
2. Frame must match body (i.e. Ford to Ford, GM to GM).
3. The motor must be in stock location. Frames must not be altered for motor placement.

4. All bodies must be OEM steel and strictly stock. No altering or channeling of body allowed. No spoilers, wings, air scoops, etc., that alters the stock appearance allowed.
All cars hatch frames must be present. Only interior gutting for door bars only. All other metal must be present.
5. Full floorboards must remain intact and visible with a metal firewall-separating driver from fuel tank and trunk area.

6. Firewall between motor and driver must be original with no alterations allowed. All holes must be covered. Stock dash (Optional) must be in original position and cannot be covered.
7. All plastic, upholstery, rear seat, lights, mirrors, chrome and all flammable material must be removed. No interior tin or other covers. No mirrors allowed.
8. All glass must be removed.  Car must have windshield screen and 3 upright windshield bars.

10. Fenders, doors and hoods required.
11. Wheel wells must remain in stock position. No cutting out of trunks or interior sheet metal.

Only cutting allowed will be for placement of roll cage and fenders may be reasonably trimmed for tire clearance only. NO sharp edges.
12. All hoods and trunks must remain stock and must be securely fastened. Hoods may be gutted, and back of hood must be sealed off from driver compartment.
13. All cars recommended having an aluminum-racing seat fastened to roll cage, and not bolted to floor.
If the stock is used, it must be securely bolted to the car, and must have all flammable material removed from it.
14. One 12-volt battery must be moved into the driver compartment and securely fastened into a marine type case.
15. NO additional weights or ballast allowed. No excessive dirt or anything that adds weight to the vehicle.
16. Stock bumpers must be in stock position. All bumpers must be capped to fenders. Hydraulic bumpers must be welded or chained with 3/16" chain and 3/8" bolts.
No reinforcement of bumpers allowed.

17. Frames and car body must be completely stock. No aftermarket parts.
18. All sharp edges, torn fenders and body panels must be repaired by next racing event.
19. No side rub rails. No quarter window covers. All windows must remain open.
20. No attachment nose pieces. Must be metals and screen (no plastic) mounted at right angle to ground behind and above bumper. Must be stock appearing.
21. Car must be painted.
22. All drivers must have Snell SA90, SA95, or SA2000 approved type-racing helmet and SFI approved full fire suit, neck brace and racing gloves.  Racing shoes are recommended. 
All cars must have an approved type five-point safety seat belt and shoulder harness equipped with a quick release buckle.
23. All Cars must run a drivers door window net. Must be fastened to roll cage and be quick release from inside and out.


 NUMBERS -
All cars must be numbered with large, legible numbers on sides, top and rear panel. Numbers must be in contrasting color from body, in all light conditions.
Numbers on side of car must be located on front door panel and be at least 4 inches thick and 20 inches high. Letters behind numbers must be at least 15 inches high. 
Numbers on top must be at least 4 inches thick and 30 inches high. If your numbers do not meet these requirements you will be given 1 week to have it fixed prior to racing again.

 

BRACING & ROLL CAGE
1. A full perimeter 4 post roll cage with "X" brace in rear hoop must be used. Roll bar padding required in driver compartment. Fire retardant padding recommended.
2. Three door bars on each side must be used. Driver Door Plate Required 18 gauge.  Must go from rear of seat to 5" in front of the seat.
Must have at least one cross bar in top halo of roll cage.
3. Minimum .095 tubing at least 1.666 inches outside diameter for cages and door bars.
4. No square tubing or galvanized pipe allowed. No squared off corners.
5. Roll cage must be securely welded to frame. No bars can extend through firewall.
6. Roll cages will be inspected.

SUSPENSION
1. Must be original type suspension, NO reinforcing is allowed.
2. No after market suspension parts allowed. No add-on quick steer boxes.
3. No racing shocks, springs, etc.
4. Brakes on all four wheels must work. No brake shut off devises. No after market brake pedal assemblies allowed.
Master cylinder must be in stock position. No balance bars. OEM brakes only. No anti-lock brakes
5. No spacers. Lumber or chains allowed.
6. One shock, OEM only, per wheel, in original mounts. No racing shocks, no air shocks, no truck shocks.
7. All front wheel drive cars rear wheels must track straight ahead no alignment change to benefit cornering.

(Will be checked with a String Line).

TIRES & WHEELS
1. Stock or DOT passenger tires only. No recaps. 6 ˝’ Max tread width. P185 tires only any series but must match side to side.
2. No mud, racing or fancy, exotic, trick gumball tires allowed. No siping, softening, grooving or conditioning.
3. Oversized steel lugs mandatory. (1" lug nuts). All four wheels.
4. OEM Steel wheels only. 7 inch Max Width

TRANSMISSION & REAR END
1. Stock OEM transmission only, as per specs for car. No aftermarket parts. All forward and reverse gears must work be operational.
Car must move forward, then backward on demand.
2. Original drive train only. No limited-slip, posi-traction or welded differential.
3. No traction control devices

ELECTRONIC/TRANSMITTING DEVICES
1. NO transmitting or listening devices.
2. NO digital gauges, timing retard controls or oxygen sensors allowed.
3. One 12-volt non-adjustable ignition box and coil allowed – must be mounted out of driver’s reach.
4. NO adjustable ignition control boxes.
5. NO electronic traction control devices.

FUEL CELL, FUEL & CARBURETOR
1. Stock carburetor/fuel injection system for that make and model. No alterations allowed. Stock air cleaner Box Required.
2. PUMP GAS ONLY. No nitrous oxide, alcohol or performance enhancing additives. Cars will be checked on random basis.
3. Gas Tank – if stock gas tank is ahead of rear axle, it may remain in place. If stock gas tank is behind rear axle; it must be replaced with a fuel cell or boat tank (maximum of 7 gallons).
Fuel cell/boat tank must be secured and located in trunk. Firewall between driver and fuel tank.
4. Stock fuel pumps only.

ENGINE
1. Any OEM engine package. OEM Turbo ok but NO intercoolers allowed. Turbo boost must not exceed the factory specs. The motor must be strictly stock for model and make of car, and be in original mounts. For example Ford-to-Ford,
Dodge-to-Dodge, regardless of what it was manufactured with. No limit on cubic inches.
2. No changes whatsoever. No aftermarket parts and no performance enhancing parts whatsoever.                                 
3. No porting or polishing or alterations of any kind to motor.
4. No headers. Must be original exhaust manifolds. Exhaust must extend past Driver. No Mufflers or Cats of any kind.
5. Engine Weight rules may come into play at the decision of the officials.  

                                       

CLAIMING -- 4 CYLINDER HORNET CLASS
1. Complete car can be claimed for $500, plus exchange. Safety harness, racing seat (if equipped) and other safety equipment stay with driver being claimed.
2. No person is allowed to claim an individual’s car more than once during the season or more than two cars for the season.
3. Both cars involved with a claim must compete in the next point race after the claim.
